Asuna- Sword Art

Now that my Cersei costume if finally done I am moving ahead on the Asuna costume.  This one is proving more difficult than anything I have done in a while!!  Although it looks awesome in pics it was definitely an outfit that was meant to be drawn not sewn!!  But it is coming along and as soon as it shapes up a little more I will post some pics!

Cersei Lannister Cosplay!!

Ok, ok this should have been done a week ago....but here is my Cersei Lannister gown and belt.  I absolutely love the color of these two materials.  The deep mauve with the ice blue silver were perfect together.  The material is so silky and so sheer!!  It was very hard to work with, but it was worth the effort!

My daughter was kind enough to pose for pics again!

Doesn't she look regal posing as the Queen?

Here is the close up of the belt!!

Daenerys Targaryen Khaleesi Sale- No More Etsy Feedback for sellers?

I am utterly disappointed with Etsy tonight....hmmm I don't think I have ever had to say those words before!  I sold a second Khalessi costume last week to wonderful woman in CA named Tracy.  Her gown was shipped out on time, but my 2 Day Priority shipment took 6 days to arrive!  Tracy was so understanding and patient!  Our correspondences have been great; she has been a terrific customer in every way.   So what then is the problem you ask?

Thanks to Etsy removing the ability for sellers to leave feedback I couldn't tell anyone how wonderful Tracy was!!!  I was able to leave feedback last month so the change must be somewhat recent and I can honestly say it is the most disappointing change Etsy has made over the years I have had my store front!   Etsy...... what were you thinking???

So although Etsy won't let me voice my opinion on their site anymore, I am here on my own blog to say "Thank you Tracy for being such a pleasure to do business with!!!"

Cersei Lannister Cosplay Dress

I had hoped to have this dress done a week ago!!!  It is almost ready to go in my Etsy shop, I finished the belt today and all that is left is to do is hem!! YEAH!

The belt was quite time consuming, but I think the finished product was worth it!!

Daenerys Targaryen Khaleesi Qarth Gown

Seems like it has been a life time since I posted anything new!!  It has been such a busy summer!  Back in August my daughter asked me to make her a costume for the Boston Comic Con, she wanted to be Khaleesi.  I did do a costume for her that she love, but I wanted to do another one out of a different material and make it more of a replica of the costume from the show (Game of Thrones).  So here is the costume I made for my Etsy shop:

Within a week of listing the costume a wonderful woman named Melissa from Illinois purchased a custom made Khaleesi costume for herself.  I was so excited yesterday when she contacted me to let me know she had worn it to an event; her is what she had to say:

Christy,

Just want to let you know that I have worn the costume to an event already. I wore it to the Bristol Rennaissance Faire in Wisconsin. I was recognized as Khaleesi by so many people and was told how beautiful the costume is. I am attaching a pic of me wearing the costume :) I will be wearing it for Halloween and many more future events to come! Thank you again! :)

~Melissa

She was also kind enough to give me permission to repost the picture of her wearing the costume!!

Doesn't she look beautiful!! Thank you Melissa!

So today I am off to work on a Cersei  costume idea and as soon as I have it done I will post some more pics!

Favorite Headband for Today!

This is my third and final headband of the day and it is my favorite!  I love the purple organza and white satin "flowers", but the black feather really brought it all together!
I now have a request for a yellow one to match an Easter dress....but I will be saving that project for tomorrow!

Baby Headband with Bow

My second baby headband of day!  This one has two double tuxedo bows.

Baby Headband Tutorial

Busy Weekend!

It was a busy weekend of hat making here in NH!  Since it was freezing out it was a good excuse to stay inside where it was warm!  Thanks to the help of my wonderful 10 year old I have four new hats done today and lots of pieces cut to make more!

I love the black and white!  The feather pieces were a real challenge and my craft room is littered with little, leftover floating bits, but it was well worth it.  Usually black and white makes me think "My Fair Lady" but, something about this one screams "Cruella"!  Well, Cruella if she wasn't hideous?

A Few More Hats to Start the Day off Right!

Elegant examples of fashion long ago.  What I wouldn't give to go back for just a day or two and try on some full size hats!!

New Product-Spray n' Bond

Well, I am not sure how long it has been around, but while wandering around the store last week I found Spray N' Bond in a can. I have been using regular iron on Heat n' Bond for years so the thought of spraying it on seemed a little odd, but I bought it!  I made an awesome lace covered tag with it.  Please see my tutorial page if you want directions for making one of your own!

Saving Money on ATG Tape and Redline Tape

Two of the items I use most in my paper crafts are my pink ATG gun and Terrifically Tacky tape.  I live in a small area so buying choices are limited to say the least.  Pretty much the only choice we have is Michaels, don't get me wrong, I love Michaels, but the cost of these two products is considerable unless you have a 50% off coupon!  After some extensive internet digging I have two wonderful sites that I thought I would pass along to all of you!

The first sells a variety of ATG tapes at the best prices I have seen anywhere.  According to their site the non-3M brand fits the 3M 714, but will it fit the pink gun?  Well, thanks to a video by Robin of the My Pink Stamper site, I was able to confirm that the 714 and the pink 85 do indeed take the same refills!  Yeah!  So here is the link for the ATG tape  http://www.findtape.com/product297/JVCC-ATG-7502-ATG-Tape.aspx?tid=11.  They have two varities, regular and high tack.

Terrifically Tacky is only available here in 5 yd. rolls and it is expensive, but I love it.  So after lots and lots of looking I found a product called "redline tape" it comes in a 60 yd. roll.  No, that is not a typo, 60 yds. and for not a whole lot more than the Terrifically Tacky!  So I order two rolls to try it (shipping was the same whether I order one or two!).  My order arrived super fast and after using the redline tape I can say it is every bit as good as Terrifically Tacky and is my new favorite find!!  You can find this tape at http://www.iheartpapers.com/item.php?item_id=258 .

Mixed Media Journal 2

Well it took a full week, but the journal is done!! Yeah!!  The tags are gorgeous!  I am very happy with the finished product.  Here are the pics!
Every page has either some element that opens to write on or multiple tags that can be pulled out and written on.  This way it can be personalized to whatever you want!

Mixed Media Journal

My weekend project, a mixed media journal, is coming along, but has turned into more than a weekend!  So I thought since it is Wednesday already I had better put up some pics to prove I have really been working!

This is one of the inside pages, sorry the pic isn't great, but its a snowy, cloudy New England day!  I used to Grand Calibur to cut the frame pieces, which I then stamped with one of the Oxford Impressions Marie Antoinette stamps.
Here is a close up of the grograin ribbon roses I made for the page.

This is a lovely lady from the first page of the journal, done all in purples with some pink chalking she is quite fetching!

Today I have been working on tags!  They are all hand cut and stamped with a variety of vintage style images.  They are taking longer than I had hoped, but I am very pleased with how they are turning out!

New Project for the Weekend

Hi Everyone!  I have been dying to try my new Zutter Bind-it-All!  So today I decided to attempt to make a mixed media journal.  I managed to cover my cover and put the pages in order, so I ran them through the Zutter.  It worked.....but there is going to be a learning curve!  Try, try again!  Hopefully by Monday I will have something awesome to post pics of!

A New Year

Now that Christmas is come and gone it is time to get back to work!  My crafts have suffered great neglect during the holdiay season.  I hope to load my Etsy shop with lots and lots of goodies this year!  Victorian themed miniatures are my true love and here are a few projects I have started the year off with!

Mixed Media Birthday Card

Well I finally got around to using my some of my Christmas presents!  My next door neighbor's birthday was yesterday (Happy Birthday Doreen!) so I needed to make a card!

I finally used my new Spellbinders Grand Calibur!  I made one large oval in purple and a small oval out of vellum.  The stamped image is from one of my new Oxford Impressions sets!  Isn't she beautiful?

Here is a close up!  I hand-dyed and curled a coordinating feather for her headpiece and added a silk ribbon rose.  Her necklace and hair are made from tiny, clear no-hole beads.  Finally her fan is trimmed in dainty purple lace.

The inside is pretty simple.  I used my new "friendship" stamps for the sentiment and my Martha Stewart craft station templates to trace "Happy Birthday" onto my vellum.  She loved it so much it went right into a frame to keep!
